Adding custom dns registers on vpc

When using VPC isolated network every deployed virtual machine name got registered in dnsmasq in the VR and is resolvable inside the vpc. Is there a way I can register my own hostname/endpoints that are not attached to a vm?

@KuasarCloud , in short no. There is some effort underway to support a plugable DNS framework and this sounds like a feature for that. However, I think the feature is meant the otherway around, i.e. having your VMs registered at an external DNS. But imagining your use-case it could be served by that. cc @wido .

A typical use case could be if I have a PostgreSQL replication setup within the VPC. Instead of relying on the IP address, I could create a read-replica endpoint based on a crafted hostname. This would make it easier to inject the endpoint into dnsmasq using the ACS API. Is there a related PR to what you mentioned with @wido? If not, I’d be happy to create one.

Indeed @DaanHoogland , that could technically work. My work is still very limited as I simply didn't put the effort into it required to get this working. The idea is there, not the result yet.
