multi-window example broken

The multi-window example no longer builds. It was building last week. I think it was broken in pull request f12de010ec2bd76ee46ef2a33642cf22e55ae87e by @mmstick, since it changed the button function name to custom.

I ran into this in the pull request #613 when I was trying to add more examples to CI.
