Help, trying to implement klicky probe offset calculation.

Hi.
I am attempting to write a python file using the python feature that would move the printhead to the ADDITIONAL limit switch, and not the Z endstop, move the head down untill the limit switch is pressed ( I am thinking of implementing that with a gcode_button - btw. how can I detect those being pressed or not in python), doing the same with the klicky probe, and then calculating the offset.

can you please advice on:

1. how to get the current Z value from python?
2. how to store it in a python variable
3. how to detect if a gcode_button was pressed?

To answer your questions:

1. Below should work:

z_pos = printer.lookup_object('toolhead').get_status(-1)['position'].z

2. See above
3. You could use press_gcode in the [gcode_button] config to invoke a DynamicMacro which invokes some Python code.

By the way, is there some sort of a more descriptive documentation besides the few examples in the python section of the dynamic macros? I've tried to find something more descriptive, but I didn't manage to do it.

Now I am trying to implement the following algorithm in python:

1. position extruder nozzle above gcode_button, which is limitswitch on pin PA9
2. lower head slowly, in 0.1 increments.
3. if button state changes, stop and record the Z position into a variable
4. raise toolhead
5. position probe above gcode_button
6. repeat 2,3,4

now I am stuck at getting the state of the button:

z_pos_1      = printer.lookup_object('toolhead').get_status(-1)['position'].z

print(z_pos_1)
print(button_state)

To that I get an error of 'Unknown config object 'PA9'
the gcode button is defined in printer.cfg:

pin: PA9
press_gcode:
release_gcode:

I need some help here as well please...
how do I get the state of the button with the python code?
