Desktop sharing password

The password for ‘Desktop Sharing’ is randomly changed after each startup, despite setting my own. Is this intentional? Can it be saved somehow?

Did you enable auto-login or typed password every login?

AFAIK Desktop Sharing uses Gnome-Keyring. And Gnome-keyring uses the same password you login to unlock the keyring.

Better way is simply add a password and don't enable auto-login.

I finally managed to set everything up. AnduinOS-1.3.4-pl_PL is installed on a Mini PC, which is part of a home theater system; it runs on a separate VLAN network, so the lack of some security features is not that concerning. I mainly operate it with an air mouse, so I cannot have passwords, which is why I have them disabled for sudo and polkit, and why I have auto-login enabled. The only thing that prevented me from using it comfortably was the pop-up asking for the keyrings password. So, I finally deleted .local/share/keyrings/* and then set an empty password for keyrings (in Seahorse). Now, in the Desktop Sharing settings, I have my own password set, which no longer changes. I do all the management from Windows PC via RDP and SSH.

BTW, AnduinOS is the first Linux desktop I started using on a daily basis; I appreciate its compactness and the ability to configure it to my needs, without unnecessary baggage, such as *Office; it reminds me a bit of Windows LTSC.

There was a small hiccup during installation (you have to wait a bit after selecting the keyboard for the setup to continue) and during initial use (speaker test without sound - easily fixed by installing the pulse library); other than that, everything works great.

By the way, the issue you mentioend that speaker no sound, I need to investigate further. Usually this shouldn't happen. By default AnduinOS has all sound packages installed. Mind if sharing more about the package you installed and that mini PC so I can investigate?

I had the same issue as in #169 - sudo apt install libcanberra-pulse fixed it; mini PC is MeLE Quieter4C N150 8G/128G connected via HDMI to TV's eARC and then to 5.1 soundbar.

Nextbuild will have libcanberra-pulse installed by default.
