Baxter is the flagship product of Rethink robotics. It is a humanoid, anthropomorphic robot that sports state-of-the-art sensing technologies, including force sensing at every joint, cameras that support vision guided actions, integrated user input elements such as buttons and knobs integrated with the robot, non-contact human presence detection and more.
Baxter comes in two variants.
- The Standard Baxter robot comes preloaded with a manufacturing application that allows Baxter to work in a manufacturing setting with behavioral-based robotics. The datasheet for the Baxter Standard Robot may be found here - please note that while the hardware platform for this robot and the Baxter Research robot are identical, parts of the datasheet refers to the standard manufacturing software running on Baxter and do not apply to the Baxter Research Robot.
- The Baxter Research Robot loaded with the Research SDK allows researchers to develop their own custom applications on the robot, exploring areas such as trajectory planning and novel human machine interfaces.
