Editing page_title on show action

Hi there,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I wonder if you can change the <h2 id="page_title"> contents for the show block? At the moment its defaulting to RecordName #ID.

Hey @mrpta,

Yes you can by using the :title option with the show block:

ActiveAdmin.register Post do
  show :title => :my_title_method do
    # ...
  end
  # OR
  show :title => proc{ post.title } do
     # ...
  end
end

It's a bit of a hack, but just put the following somewhere that will get loaded on boot.
I like to put it in lib/active_admin_ext.rb and make sure to load that somewhere in config/initailizers/,
or you could just put this code in config/initializers somewhere...

  class Index < Base
    def title
      parent = controller.__send__(:parent) if controller.respond_to?(:parent, true)

      case config[:title]
      when Proc
        config[:title].call parent
      when String
        config[:title]
      else
        default_title
      end
    end

    protected

    def default_title
      active_admin_config.plural_resource_name
    end
  end
end

You could ditch the parent stuff if you are not using belongs_to. It allows you to do something like this:

  index title: proc{ |parent| "#{ parent ? "#{ parent }'s" : 'All' } Widgets" } do |resource|

The same code as mentioned for 'show' works for index as well ie
index :title=>"My Own title" do

or
index :title=> proc{}
unless you are looking for something more complex

Using activeadmin 0.4.4, the above does not work for setting the index page title. It works for show/edit, but not index.

In my gemfile, I am using this -> gem 'activeadmin', :git => 'git://github.com/gregbell/active_admin.git' and I am using :title for index as mentioned above. Can you write down what problem you are facing.

Specifying the GitHub repo in Gemfile got things working. The gem still shows as being at version 0.4.4, but the codebase in the repo must be newer than that on rubygems.org.

When using the version from rubygems.org, I was never receiving any errors - it just seemed to ignore the :title => 'Whatever' declaration.

If anyone is looking at @amiel's code above, it seems that plural_resource_name is now plural_resource_label (at least that works in 0.5.1 for me).

For anyone that comes across this Issue, my PR (#1324) is available in 0.5.0 which lets you set the index title to a custom string, and the currently open PR #1861 will soon let you set the title to a proc.

Bringing up an old issue, but if you add HTML to the show, it also appears in the browser title. Anyway to set one for the browser and one for the page?
