Using sd card as a drive

Is there any way to get the sd card as a drive when you connect the usb without affecting the possibility to read files from the application? The purpose is to add/remove files to/from the sd card without the need to remove the card all the time.

There is an example for USB-MSD where USB can access a blockdevice, that should work for this.
