Figured I'd contribute these changes so everyone else could benefit or tweak them if needed. I'm a noob coder so please note it may not be perfect or the best way to do some of the things but its working for me in dev and test environments.
Reason: Was going over all the core libraries for a client and looking to update them if possible for security reasons.
