Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v14 or higher)
• npm or yarn
• GitHub OpenAI API key and endpoint access

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/EvanGks/developer-assistant-chatbot-gpt4o.git
   cd developer-assistant-chatbot-gpt4o
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Create a .env file in the root directory based on .env.example:

   GITHUB_OPENAI_API_KEY=your_github_openai_api_key_here 
   GITHUB_OPENAI_API_ENDPOINT=https://models.inference.ai.azure.com
   PORT=3000 
   NODE_ENV=development

4. Start the server:

   npm start
   

5. Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000

Development Mode

To run the server in development mode with automatic restart on file changes:

npm run dev

Usage

Simply type your software development-related question in the input field and press Enter or click the send button. The chatbot specializes in answering questions about:

• Programming languages
• Frameworks and libraries
• Development tools
• Coding best practices
• Software architecture
• Debugging and troubleshooting

Example questions:

• "What is the difference between let and const in JavaScript?"
