📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The changes streamline the error handling logic in the GetHBitmap method of the WindowsThumbnailProvider class. The specific HRESULT value (S_ExtractionFailed) has been removed, and the catch block now simply catches any COMException without conditional checks. A fallback mechanism using ThumbnailOptions.IconOnly is introduced when a FileNotFoundException occurs. This adjustment clarifies the handling for missing files and enhances the overall error management.

Flow.Launcher.Infrastructure/.../ThumbnailReader.cs Removed the specific HRESULT constant. Simplified the COMException handling by removing the condition. Introduced a fallback using ThumbnailOptions.IconOnly.

Poem

I'm a little rabbit, hopping through the code,
Leaving HRESULTs behind on my playful road.
A catch here, a fallback there, all nicely redefined,
In simpler logic fields, a smoother path I find.
Hopping over errors with a cheerful, coding rhyme.

80-89: Consider reducing code duplication and adding logging.

Both catch blocks use the same fallback logic. Consider refactoring to reduce duplication and add logging for better diagnostics.

80-84: LGTM! Simplified error handling improves robustness.

The change to catch all COMExceptions and fall back to IconOnly is a good approach that will handle various COM-related failures, including issues with files in the recycle bin.

}
catch (COMException ex) when (ex.HResult == S_ExtractionFailed && options == ThumbnailOptions.ThumbnailOnly)

I somehow feel like you can merge this two branch with some pattern matching? like catch (Exception ex) when (ex is COMException or FileNotFoundException)

I can also catch some ink files with COMException when getting thumbnail for them, so I also change COMException here. (I forget how to reproduce it...)

Now I revert these codes.
