VESUVIO: New Detector

This ticket needs to be updated as and when more detail becomes available, and/or other tickets should be created.

VESUVIO have a new detector, that is IP based (arrived relatively unannounced December 2019 - the programmer is still working on it), that will eventually need to be integrated into IBEX.

Initially, this interaction will be undertaken via HTTP post/gets via Python with limited support from Experiment Controls.

In time, these webserver interfaces will need to be wrapped into the control system - there is currently no information as to what those commands are or what they need to undertake.

Longer-term it will be best to move the detector onto a private network on VESUVIO and provide it with a fixed IP address.

It creates XML data, at present the need (or not) for long term storage of this data has not been ascertained.

Who is the programmer? Someone from ISIS or from elsewhere?
What is the programmer committing to deliver? Properly tested & documented code, or something else?

I have no more detail than I've placed in the ticket, @FreddieAkeroyd may have more.

The programmer is from an external company I believe, they will deliver us a web based API for control after testing, I will get some more details

@FreddieAkeroyd and @KathrynBaker, do either of you remember if this is the High Purity Germanium Detector, or was it something else?

Not sure, but the company may have been Nuclear Instruments - i'd suggest checking with Davide

Confirmed with scientist, this is not the same as the recently-requested ("high purity germanium") detector. (New one only arrived in summer 2024)
