JabRef version 4.1 on Windows 7-64 java 8 update 151

Steps to reproduce:

1. start jabref with a group
2. open the entry editor
3. move between entries, eventually the display remains blank

I also get these exceptions, but they do not let the editor get stuck. You really should test the latest master version (There's a reason we added that checkbox in opening the issue to make sure the issues are not have not already been resolved)

At least in my case I have observed that any activity of the jabref task ceased completely looking at the windows task manager. I had a similar situation some hours ago, but did not make any attempts to look at circonstances.
This version 4.1 was released only a couple of days ago. These errors are not supposed to occur since waiting for the entry editor display was already a problem in 4.0 and as a user one could hope this issue had been settled once and for all. It is something about quality management which is lacking.

You are right, we are only a bunch of programmers hacking on JabRef in our freetime. It would be nice if we could get professional support in terms of a quality manager, community manager and project manager. If you happen to know someone that it is willing do offer their help for free, we would be very glad! Sorry for this slightly sarcastic answer, but you should understand that JabRef is developed as a hobby without any professional support and thus adopt your expectations accordingly.

That being said, the issue should be fixed with #3591.

First of all, thank you for your work on JabRef.

However, It seems to me that I am experiencing the same bug, which is not resolved for me in the latest snapshot.

Steps to reproduce:
Whenever I select an entry, JabRef freezes and it takes quite some time until the entry editor shows, but then I can use JabRef again. If I select a different tab, e. g. “Optional Fields”, then Jabref freezes again, but eventually unfreezes and shows the selected tab.

Jabref does not freeze, but since all acitivity ceased in task manager I concluded that it will never show the fields in the entry editor. How long did you wait? For me some minutes is some minutes to long.

I know all the limitations of your work. Still the bugs in 4.0 should not remain in a new version, than this version is not worth to get out. I have contributed to snapshots and betas fairly well. Therefore, some critique for quality management was IMHO justified. I will not ask about the way you ensure that bugs are eliminated without getting new ones into the code. But that seems the problem.

• open another entry. now freeze.

Seems like some part of the files model still executes on the wrong thread. I tried to reproduce the other problems mentioned in this thread, but failed to do so.

As it happens on the General window, it must been something with the files. as the files model internally uses the Observable LIsts
