User Interface (UI)
The first page allows you to set the file (or folder) to corrupt, and where to write the new file.
Select Individual Files
Using this mode, you can specify a set of files to corrupt. You may select as many files as you want. If you set the output folder to the same folder that the original files are in, CrossCorrupt will overwrite your original files! Make sure you have backups!
Select Folders
This mode allows you to choose a folder to corrupt instead of individual files. CrossCorrupt will then corrupt every file inside the folder, and any file inside subfolders. You can customize which files to corrupt on the second tab (see below). CrossCorrupt will not overwrite your original folder. You must specify a different directory to write the new folder. This is because CrossCorrupt makes a copy of the folder. Non corrupted files will be included in the copy.
This tab also has the output log. Here the program prints its status and error messages if they occur. When you submit an issue to the Issues section, include all of the log's contents. You can copy the contents of the log by pressing the Copy Log button.
This tab contains all the settings you can use to customize how CrossCorrupt modifies your files. You can find specific information about how each of the settings works on the Corruption Settings wiki page. In Folder Corruption mode, CrossCorrupt will apply these settings to each file inside the folder that satisfies the criteria specified in the Folder Corruption Settings section.
This tab contains the settings for Folder Scramble. Folder Scramble is an optional setting which is available in Folder Corruption mode. See the Folder Scramble page for more details about how this works.
The UI looks and behaves slightly differently on different platforms. For example, the UI for Folder Scramble is disabled on Windows if Folder Scramble itself is disabled. However, on Mac, the UI remains enabled, but the program ignores anything entered on that page.
