This won't be a very big wiki, but it will explain what needs testing most.

This is also a big list, but if you are able to focus on one of these main points without even going through all the game, it is a big help.

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO HERE IS A BIG HELP, WHETHER IT RELATES TO WHAT IS BELOW OR NOT. Anything testers find awkward, I'll take on, myself. It's just, this may give you ideas for stuff to try, or help you avoid certain areas. This is mainly provided as a guideline in case you need suggestions on stuff to beat up.

In-Game Stuff, arranged by approximate usefulness per testers' time spent

Freak Control

  • (SKIP 8 gets you there quickly)
  • is the scenery ok? Try to break interacting with it
  • are both ways to get the bad guy's attention adequately clued? Is at least one? (TALK TO HIM is no longer good enough)

beyond Freak Control

  • the good ending (SKIP 9, or SKIP 8 and talk to the bad guy)
  • is the puzzle in the final room clearly clued? Did you find more than one way easily enough?
  • the very good ending (SKIP 10)
  • is the puzzle in the final room clearly clued? Did you find more than one way easily enough?

Meal Square: Accelerated endings

  • look through the foods. Abuse the trays. Is the player warned adequately?
  • Eat/chew the gum.
  • Actual endings
  • off-cheese has been tested once, some bugs fixed
  • greater cheese has not been tested at all
  • cutter cookie was tested pre-release
  • look for if the room descriptions make sense along the way. Be picky.
  • try to break the accelerated ending

the puzzle to get the very good ending

  • spoilers
  • is it clear the chase paper is optional?
  • how annoying is the Insanity Terminal?
  • can you find the room with the New Puzzle?
  • is the New Puzzle okay, with or without the clue item (sorry being vague for spoilers) or simply trial and error?
  • can you test going the wrong way in the New Puzzle?
  • does the puzzle physically make sense? Is the (sub-enemy) suitably oppressive? Can I do better?

The Jerks Puzzle

  • observe them for hints to keep getting one right
  • don't solve the Insanity Terminal til the jerks are up, then examine it (I need a way to clue this)
  • try general abuse to break the puzzle

user friendliness

This may not make sense right away, but I wanted to provide a way to skip past dialogues.

  • There's a command to skip past dialogues.
  • verify it appears if you go through Guy Sweet's dialog
  • verify it appears if you enter Broke Flat
  • verify it appears after a skip-verb
  • verify it is present in VERBS once you "know" it
  • try it on Guy beforehand and make sure it works
  • the command is abbreviated later.
  • try the abbreviated command on Guy
  • try it once you know the long command

Insanity Terminal

  • Make sure that X 1 shows question #1 only. Also, X 9/X 0 reject the player properly.
  • standard way to guess things right
  • see if you can guess by process of elimination (terminal makes different sounds the "wronger" you are) and also verify how to get rid of this clue
  • guess 7 wrong and verify the terminal zaps you right
  • I calculated possibilities if 7 wasn't what it should be. bdecdaae and ccecfaad are 2 such examples. Hopefully the reject is sensible to you.

META-COMMANDS

  • VERBS
  • should clue META, which should also be coherent
  • noticeably different in the good or bad end area
  • XP
  • is it clued well?
  • are the explanations basically right?
  • player-advance commands (this looks like a lot, but you don't actually have to solve any puzzles--just spot stuff that might be obviously wrong)
  • remember to delete pcverbs(.glkdata) in order to clear what you "know"
  • what happens if you use a verb the game hasn't told you? Is it OK?
  • be sure that if you restart and try it again, the game doesn't give a warning
  • what happens if you use a verb the game has told you? Is it OK?
  • general stuff: is the text ok? Do the verbs themselves make sense?
  • spoilers
  • duck sitting
  • knock hard
  • figure a cut
  • notice advance
  • suitable reject for using them past Smart Street?
  • Are artifacts left over? Is the player's inventory ok/sensible?
  • "notice advance" probably needs the most checking. Someone random may be wandering around who shouldn't. This is the sort of thing I feel I should test but I never got around to it.
  • "figure a cut" needs the next most
  • "knock hard" should leave you empty handed
  • "duck sitting" should leave you with the gesture token
  • ANNO (this may take a long time)
  • is it clued once the game ends?
  • how well does it work?
  • How are the side areas with the JUMP command?

Bug fixes

  • Try to break off a conversation forcefully and make sure the game behaves sensibly. Main things include walking away or attacking someone or saying yes/no
  • attacking someone in general: does the "fake ending" feel right?
  • Try to get more than 4 ticketies from the Toad. Make sure the game doesn't go silly
  • Make sure you can drop a drink in the bar with 4 ticketies

Features

  • try cussing and saying yes/no when asked if you want profanity

Random stuff I -could- test, but it'd be neat

technically automatable, but if it breaks, someone could find it easily

  • INVENTORY after picking up an item
  • THINK/SCORE occasionally
  • Try doing stuff in the middle of a conversation
  • get sent to various "bad ends" (ATTACK other people and things, like Guy Sweet or the Game Shell. The Stool Toad is good to attack too)
  • get more than 4 ticketies, or try to

walkthrough and trizbort map testing

  • walkthrough
  • invisiclues (note: you can read pc.txt so you don't have to click around)
  • trizbort maps
  • does the full map make sense?
  • does the directors cut map look nice?
  • is the walkthrough flowchart correct?

Release vs Beta Testing

  • this should work, but if you can verify Beta bugs didn't slip into the release, it'd be a nice thing.
  • The Release Version needs to avoid ACBYE, MONTY, JERK, JGO, BROBYE, CTC, SKIP
  • The Beta Tester Version should have them all, to help speed up testing
