  • Switches the progress spinner from using querySelector to ViewChild.
  • Moves all of the remaining DOM manipulation to the renderer.
  • Skips animations if requestAnimationFrame is not available.
  • Simplifies some overly-complex logic for adding/removing the theme class.

Fixes #3988.
