According to the release schedule, the next release should be a minor, non breaking release 52.2.0 released around early August 2024

I plan to start work on this late July

Per discussion on apache/arrow-rs-object-store#63 we are going to make a 53.0.0-dev feature branch so we can merge / integrate breaking API changes before master opens for 53.0.0.

BTW I plan to create a release candidate likely tomorrow so we can continue 53.0.0 development on main (including library upgrades, etc)
