How to fill other columns of a user table when creating a new user

From the quickstart docs, we have this example:

But I see that there are other vital columns like force_reset and status, status_message, active in the auth_identities and users tables respectively. I have tried doing something like this:

    'password' => 'secret plain text password',
    'force_reset' => 1,
    'active' => 1,
    'status' => 'inactive'
]);
$users->save($user);

But none of the the fields: force_reset, active, status, status_message and being updated for that user.

What is the best way to include any of these columns to the list of user information to create or edit using the same format explained in the docs?

With the special exception of the credentials (which "pass through" to the identities table) UserModel works like any other CodeIgniter Model class. In your case, make sure any fiords you are trying to change are in the $allowedFields property. Here is the default:

Where did you customize in UserModel?
You must implement the method to save force_reset field to auth_identities table by yourself.

If you don't know Model Event well, I recommend you not to extend UserModel, and call UserIdentityModel::save() after $users->save().

Oh, I see.

I thought there was an out-of-the-box solution for updating both tables just like we can update email, username and password, even though they are from different tables.

You need to extend UserModel and use it.

1. If you add columns in users table, add the columns to UserModel::$allowedFields.
2. If you add columns in auth_identities table, you need to call UserIdentityModel::save() after calling $users->save().
