Can't sign up to create first user

Is there any reason why the sign up, via the Ghost web page that spins up from the container, would fail?

I put in a name and email address but it spins for ages, then says "couldn't create user"

I'm using Nginx Proxy Manager in another container for the reverse proxy.

The last time I tested this, I also struggled with it and found that it was related to my email setup. See #437 (comment), especially --env mail__transport=stub (which obviously isn't a great setup, as I recall it makes all the necessary emails go to the container's stdout/logs).

I think the "admin" interface is under /ghost/ after the system is up.

Thank you. I'm fairly new to this, so could you explain the general concept of the stuff this container is doing? Especially - what the email part is for, and what you lose if you don't use it. I'm on a mission to make self hosting accessible to regular people, so please explain like I'm a normie.... (Which is almost true 😁)
