@JanKrivanek please make sure to merge, not squash. Some of the commits in this PR were already in the previous 17.9->main PR which was squashed by mistake.

@ladipro - Thanks for mentioning! I was scratching my head (#9599 (comment)) why the commits reapper - I totally haven't realized I was squashing 🤦
