Ah I ran into something similar but I was omitting the from, (used to be defaulted). I guess this is something else the. I'm switching to rpcfrontier branch now, it might work there.

I don't think will happen anymore because of validations. Could you check and confirm using current develop? I just merged rpcfrontier to develop.

Note that the RPC updates include new method names. eth_transact has been renamed to eth_sendTransaction and all arguments should be supplied as hexstrings instead of numbers.
