These changes should make the proxy work a bit better.

In my testing, I found that hive would sometimes hang while setting up
the proxy container, and killing the process would leave the container behind.

With these changes, the proxy container will eventually exit by itself when hive
loses track of it for some reason. Also, the setup is somehow more reliable
with the direction of the RPC stream switched: now the frontend waits for the
backend to connect before continuing.
