What happened
Also present in 5.x. renaming a node (by double click) does highlight the text but click+drag to select a part of the text will move the node around. The only way I found to select/deselect text is with the arrow keys. One would say it's minor but it falls into the very annoying department.
What you expected to happen
Like any text editor, enable mouse input to manipulate text.
