Connect to Fresh DevStack Install

I've got a fresh install of DevStack up and running. I've confirmed that the identify service is working appropriately using curl. I'm attempting to connect to the compute service to get some basic info (images, flavors, etc).

That works perfectly! So, the key seems to be authenticate(). It would be helpful to include this in the documentation.

How do I use computeservice along with authenticate?

Replacing getCatalog() with computeService() gives me the same "endpoint" error that I was seeing earlier.

No, authenticate() is not meant to be called directly under normal circumstances. I was asking you to call it to help debug this issue.

Could you please paste the output of the print_r statement so I could help figure out what's going on? Thanks.

Thanks. The issue is that you need to pass the name of the compute service, as defined in the devstack service catalog. Looking at the output of the print_r, that name is nova.

So try replacing this line:

$compute = $client->computeService('', 'RegionOne');

with this line:

$compute = $client->computeService('nova', 'RegionOne');

Also, you can remove the three lines I asked you to add for debugging, including the explicit call to authenticate().

"The first argument is the name of the service as it appears in the OpenStack service catalog. If in doubt, you can leave blank and it will revert to the default name for the service"

I was in doubt and left it blank :)
