The word "community" does not adequately capture what I'm trying to convey here. Here, the use of the term "online communities" refers to a list of websites or services where people can post and communicate. There may be a better term here. It could be something like "social networks".

but when it comes to naming we do not need to be technical. if so we should have a marketing repo and move everything over there. also, we are using the word "community" in slack to describe marketing and design as well.

It's not about being technical. It's about not being confusing.

Should we change our slack channel name from "community" to "marketing"?

No I'd keep it the way it is.
